Franklin Street basement tenant William Keith Kane, 23, of Lansdale, will not face a felony charge of aggravated assault in Montgomery County court in May for allegedly assaulting and threatening his landlord with a knife and tire iron. The charge was dismissed at a preliminary hearing Thursday morning in Lansdale District Court. All other charges against Kane were held by District Judge Harold Borek: misdemeanor possessing an instrument of crime, three counts of misdemeanor simple assault, misdemeanor reckless endangerment and summary harassment. Anthony Hughes, of West Third Street in Lansdale, allegedly disposed of a handgun and a knife owned by one of the men charged in the January robbery and assault at Hen's Coins and Collectibles in Lansdale.
A Lansdale man charged with felony hindering prosecution and apprehension of two of his alleged accomplices in the January robbery and assault at Hen's Coins and Collectibles on West Main Street waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday afternoon in Lansdale District Court. Anthony Hughes, 25, of the unit block of West Third Street, had a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance withdrawn by the Commonwealth. The felony charge, a misdemeanor charge of tampering with evidence, and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana remain against him. Towamencin reident Airen Kevin Emfinger, 22, of the 700 block of Weikel Road, had two misdemeanor offenses related to brandishing a weapon dropped by Lansdale Police at his preliminary hearing Tuesday afternoon before District Judge Albert Augustine in Skippack. Emfinger was tasered by a Lansdale Police officer on June 5 following a foot chase across the west ward of the borough after he allegedly pulled a knife on a Lansdale resident on West Mount Vernon Street near Salford Avenue. Emfinger was arraigned before District Judge James Gallagher on the following misdemeanor charges: Bail was set at $5,000 cash and Emfinger was taken to Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post bail, police said. He eluded police, but they need your help in finding the suspect. Upper Gwynedd Township Police have released a sketch of the suspect involved in the home invasion Monday morning in West Point. The suspect is described as a black male, 6 feet tall, medium build, with a dark black or blue shirt and dark blue jean, police said. The suspect was also wearing a black-colored stocking over his head. Police said he appeared to be wearing gloves with fingertips exposed. There were no weapons displayed or insinuated, police said. Homeowner confronted an Asian male with a knife in their home at 5 a.m. Monday
Police said a homeowner confronted an intruder with a knife in their home on the unit block of Meadow Lane in Hatfield Township at 5:10 a.m. Monday. The resident was awakened by the family dog barking, police said, and upon checking the home, the resident found an intruder armed with a dull-colored six-inch knife. The resident went to the bedroom and dialed 9-1-1 for help, police said. The intruder left the home prior to police arrival, police said. No one was injured and nothing was taken, police said.
