Students of Lansdale Catholic Give for Day of Service

Local school gets creative to give back to the surrounding community.

 For many in the nation, it was a day off from work and school, but the students at Lansdale Catholic High School took the time to give back. Since 1983, the federal holiday has been known as the annual celebration to mark the birthday of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In 1994, according to mlkday.gov, the government declared the day a Day of Service to remember all the man did for others. "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?,'" King once said.  To show the meaning behind those words, the students, facutly and staff at LCHS chose Aid for Friends to be their benefactor this year. No School for Lansdale Catholic, Archdiocese Schools Wednesday

All high schools will close until the strike is resolved, per Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

High schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, including Lansdale Catholic High School, will not open starting Wednesday due to the ongoing teachers strike and reduced staffing. (Source) Teachers have been walking the picket lines for a week as the negotiations for the latest contract continue. Students have been reporting to school despite the faculty absence. "We are not able to bring the entire school population back into the building with reduced staffs since this would compromise the safety of the school and our students," wrote Dr. Richard McCarren, secretary of Catholic education, and Superintendent Mary Rochford in a letter to parents.
