Manna Meeting with Concerned Residents 'Clarified' Misconceptions

Manna on Main Street board members and staff recently met with residents of Highland Avenue, Forest Avenue and East Main Street who are concerned about the Lansdale Collaborative Project and who had questions about Manna's mission

The residents living along Highland Avenue, Forest Avenue and East Main Street have come individually or in groups to Lansdale Borough Council and committee meetings, and even town hall sessions, to express their concerns and disdain with the Lansdale Collaborative Project. The project is poised to bring together Manna on Main Street, Advanced Living Communities, The PEAK Center and an expanded North Penn YMCA under one roof on the former Lans-Bowl property. Of all the things residents of these streets have been vocal about, the major one is their concern over the type of clientele that Manna on Main Street serves in Lansdale. Former Handyman Charged in Lansdale Burglary

Jason Burg, 29, of the 800 block of Girard Avenue, Upper Gwynedd, was arrested July 28 for his alleged involvement in a July 9 burglary on West Mt. Vernon Street in Lansdale

A former handyman at a residence on the 300 block of West Mount Vernon Street in Lansdale was arrested July 28 and charged with felony burglary and other offenses, police said. Jason Burg, 29, of the 800 block of Girard Avenue, Upper Gwynedd, faces felony burglary, felony criminal trespassing, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property charges at an August 7 preliminary hearing. On July 9, at 9:25 a.m., Lansdale Police responded to a burglary on the 300 block of West Mt. Vernon Street where a witness saw a man exit through the rear door of a vacationing neighbor's home, police said. One Flown in Franconia Accident

At least one person was flown by MidAtlantic MedEvac after suffering injuries in a reported hit-and-run accident at Harleysville Pike/Route 113 and Allentown Road in Franconia Township Sunday afternoon, according to Breaking News Network reports. MidAtlantic is a joint air medical transport program operated by Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia and the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown. According to the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety Active Incident report, a report was received at 3:39 p.m. by 9-1-1 of a Ford Ranger sitting in the intersection of Allentown Road and Harleysville Pike. Suspected Heroin Dealer Busted in Lansdale Sting

John Nicholas Gallagher, 45, of Derstine Avenue, was busted following a prostitution sting earlier this month in Lansdale

Lansdale Police said an alleged prostitution sting led to the arrest of a suspected heroin dealer in the borough. John Nicholas Gallagher, 45, of the 500 block of Derstine Avenue, Lansdale, was arrested June 22 at his home after a search warrant was served and heroin was found in his home, police said. Gallagher's arrest was the result of a narcotics investigation that began with the arrest of two alleged prostitutes on West Main Street in Lansdale earlier this month. Gallagher is charged with felony manufacture, deliver and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver; misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance; misdemeanor possession of a counterfeit substance and misdemeanor possession with intent to use drug …

Fantastic First Friday Featured Family Fun

Three stages of music, lots of food and lots of foot traffic in Main Street businesses proved a renewed First Friday was a success

The smile couldn't fade from the face of Mary Fuller. The Lansdale Borough councilwoman and Discover Lansdale member was ecstatic that the weather held out for the renewed and revitalized First Friday. Hundreds of people walked the sidewalks of Main Street, packed Round Guys Brewery and Molly Maguire's, stopped and shopped the businesses, stuffed their faces with delicacies from Virago Baking Co., Texas Roadhouse, Slack's Hoagie Shack and Tabora Farms, clinched their VIP passes to Lansdale Beer Fest and rocked out to The Breaks, Friends With Murder, Cheers Elephant, Nicos Gun and Mighty Manatees. Two Dads Duke It Out at Lansdale Catholic

The two parents, whose children attend Archbishop Wood, were fighting over which of their children was better suited to play on the boys' lacrosse team

Two fathers, whose children attend Archbishop Wood, were cited for disorderly conduct Wednesday afternoon after an argument turned into a physical fight at a Lansdale Catholic boys' lacrosse game. One parent was treated by Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale at the scene, police said. Lansdale Police did not release the names of the two men because "both parents, though cited for their actions, had the sense to step away from the field and out of view of the other adults, and more importantly, from the students playing on the field." Both fathers are in their early 50s, police said. One lives in Jenkintown and another lives in Jamison, Bucks County. April has seen it all: whether it's 85 degrees or 30 degrees or maybe some rain or maybe some snow. Lately, there has been some settlement in the weather, but it is still kind of scattered in some sense. For the next couple of days, expect to see some sun, clouds, rain and possibly some snow mixed in for the more northern areas in our region. Today will most likely be the nicest out of them all with mostly sunny skies and high temperatures peaking in the mid-50s. It will also be fairly windy for the majority of the day with northwest winds at 12 to 18 mph. As for tonight, mostly clear skies will persist along with diminished winds. First Quarter Montgomery Twp. Revenues Up 50 Percent Over 2011

About 94 percent of Montgomery Township revenues for the first quarter of 2012 are tracking nearly 50 percent above the same period from 2011. Finance director Shannon Drosnock gave an update on the results of the first quarter 2012 budget Monday night. "This is good news going forward," Drosnock told supervisors. The fund balance for the General Fund at the end of the first quarter 2012 is $5.056 million, an increase of $721,000 over the first quarter balance for 2011, she said.
