Lansdale Historical Society will present a second show of Mayor Mike DiNunzio's collection Dec. 17
It's always better the second time around. Lansdale Historical Society will feature the collectibles of Mayor Mike DiNunzio a second time on Dec. 17 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Jenkins Historic Complex. More than 400 area residents attended the Dec. 3 "Holidays at the Homestead" Open House that was a tribute to the late Lansdale mayor. The showing of the mayor's favorite things was planned as a one-day-only event, but due to popular demand, the society and the DiNunzio family agreed to open the doors again. Mayor Mike's collection includes clocks, model cars, cobbler's tools, railroad lanterns and paperweights from around the world. There is also countless other priceless memorabilia that Mayor Mike held in high regard.

More than 400 visitors got a glimpse into the private life Saturday of late Mayor Mike DiNunzio during a Lansdale Historical Society tribute to the life of DiNunzio. "They’ve been telling me it's one of the biggest and I've seen a lot of people come through," said DiNunzio's son, Mike DiNunzio Jr. "We’re very pleased with the fact that everybody has an interest." Lansdale Historical Society President Dick Shearer and historian Steve Moyer invited the DiNunzio family to show off Mayor Mike's collection to the public as part of its "Holidays at the Homestead" event. Borough council is expected to form a task force to discover possibilities for a permanent remembrance for the former Lansdale mayor
A memoriam for late Lansdale Mayor Mike DiNunzio is in the works on the borough-level, and a task force may soon be created in the near future to determine what should be the best way to honor him. Hundreds honor the passing of former Lansdale Mayor Mike DiNunzio
"It's a good day for a great man." Those were the words said by Robert Babb, a Navy veteran and owner of the Physical Therapy and Wellness Institute, as he exited Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church after paying his final respects to his longtime friend, Mike DiNunzio. Monday's funeral service began with a police-led procession that took DiNunzio past the Fairmount Fire Company before traveling through the parking lot of Lansdale Borough Hall, where nearly 20 members of the Lansdale Police Department stood stoically as they saluted their former boss. Lansdale councilman Jack Hansen brought up the idea of renaming the state highway to the public works committee
A borough councilman has recommended the Public Works Committee consider renaming Lansdale’s Main Street “Mayor Mike DiNunzio Way.” Jack Hansen brought up the idea to the committee Wednesday night. “I just want to say, as we all know, Lansdale lost its biggest cheerleader this week, and I want this committee to consider renaming Main Street ‘Mayor Mike DiNunzio Way,’” he said. Lansdale is forever indebted to “The Humble Cobbler.” That was at the heart of the statement made by Mayor Andy Szekely Wednesday night at the borough council meeting, where Mayor Mike DiNunzio was posthumously honored by elected officials. At the start of the meeting, council President Matt West said council is planning on honoring DiNunzio in two weeks at the business meeting. Since Wednesday’s meeting was so close to DiNunzio’s passing, West requested those in attendance to have a dedicated silent meditation following the Pledge of Allegiance in his honor.
