One Dead Following SWAT Situation in Montgomery Township

Unidentified man allegedly threatened his mother with a handgun, causing her to flee the home, then took his own life; Village at Neshaminy Falls cordoned off by police for much of Wednesday afternoon

A lengthy police standoff prompted by a domestic dispute in Montgomery Township ended Wednesday afternoon with the discovery that a 47-year-old township man had taken his own life. Montgomery Township police said the man, whom they did not identify, had pointed a handgun at his mother following an argument Wednesday morning. The man's mother arrived at the township police department at about 10:30 a.m., police said, and informed them of the situation. She told police that she had been unable to call 9-1-1 because her son had disconnected the telephone at the residence and threatened her with the gun when she attempted to reconnect it.
