Bucks DA: Marino Had Prior 'Violent' Record

"Zombies were coming to kill" Marino, he told Hilltown Township Police during a 2011 incident where he had to be Tasered

In his 10-page findings of the investigation into the justified shooting death of Michael W. Marino Jr., who lived in Perkasie and Quakertown, Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler wrote that the victim had prior violent police contact last year. On March 9, 2011, at 3:07 a.m., Hilltown Police were dispatched to 602 South Perkasie Road, located in Hilltown Township, which was Marino's residence at the time, Heckler said. Calls to police radio indicated Marino was breaking windows and damaging property because "zombies were coming to kill him," according to Heckler. Petitions in Support of Marino, Police Reform Hit Web

Friends and family of deceased Quakertown man Michael W. Marino Jr., who was shot by a Perkasie Police officer on Saturday, have started petitions calling for police reform and justice

Three days after the shooting death by a Perkasie Police officer of Quakertown man Michael W. Marino Jr., 26, friends and family members have taken to Facebook and Change.org calling for justice and police reform. A petition for justice for Marino and police reform has begun as a public event on Facebook. The petition itself has 529 supporters as of 5 p.m. Tuesday. A similar petition has begun on Change.org as well. You can sign the "Petition for Justice and Police Reform to Respect Consitutional Rights" by clicking this highlighted link. Michael W. Marino, Jr., 26, of Quakertown passed away suddenly on June 9, 2012, according to an obituary on the website of Huff and Lakjer Funeral Home. He was the beloved son of Michael W. Marino and the late Trudy A. Simione and step-son of Kalie Marino. Michael was a graduate of Lakeside High School. He was a charming young man who loved nature and people. He had just started classes at Bucks County Community College and loved working with his hands, employed as a carpenter for some time. Missing Quakertown Girl Found

Alanah Ross has returned home to Richland Township.

Former missing teenager Alanah Ross, of Richland Township, has been found. According to the Facebook page of Ross's mother, Michelle Long Ross, Alanah has been found after "10 long, frightening days." Ross credited her brother-in-law for helping get Alanah back home. "You will all never know how much your outpouring of love and concern has meant to our family. There is no situation that I can think of that is more difficult than not knowing where your child is or if they are safe," wrote Ross in her Facebook post Tuesday night. "Alanah is thankfully safe and we are so glad she has been found." Police suspect the girl's boyfriend lives on the 1400 block of Welsh Road in Hatfield Township and police have approached businesses with any help in the investigation, according to a source. Towamencin Twp. Secretary, Husband in Critical Condition After Motorcycle Accident

Sharon Luma, the executive secretary at Towamencin Township, and her husband, Timothy, both Quakertown residents, remain in critical condition at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, following a serious two-vehicle accident Saturday evening in Longswamp Township. A source confirmed Timothy Luma, 49, is in a drug-induced coma due to the severity of his injuries. A source also confirmed Sharon Luma, 46, has injuries that are "non-recoverable." According to an article in The Morning Call, the Lumas were riding a motorcycle on State Street near Doe Mountain Lane. Former NP Teacher Saks Succumbs to Tumor, Benefit Continues

Mike Saks was a physics teacher at North Penn High School in the mid-90s, as well as a coach for wrestling, softball and tennis

Lansdale native Mike Saks was a wrestling star in the mid-1980s at North Penn, accomplishing the 1984 sectional championship in his weight class and being the 1985 state qualifier in his weight class during his senior year. He would go on to coach wrestling at the high school, in addition to coaching girls' softball and girls' tennis. He was also a physics teacher at North Penn High School in the mid-90s, and even taught math and coached at Pennridge High School later in his career. Like a good wrestling match, Saks would face a beast not once, but twice, in his life. He was able to pin and beat a brain tumor almost five years ago. National 'Mom's Night Out' treated local mothers to a variety of surprises

Thursday night was National Mom's Night Out, and nowhere was that more evident than at the Montgomery Mall, which hosted an evening event catering to local mothers. "I've never even heard of Mom's Night Out," said Melissa Sherman, of Quakertown. "I just came down to shop with a few friends, but this is a nice surprise!"
