Prism Brewing Co. in Upper Gwynedd—right on the edge of North Wales—is having a special kickoff for its Chemosabe brew at Becker's Corner in Quakertown. Their toast—to 13-year-old Lansdale resident Matthew Knoebel, currently recovering from a bone marrow transplant, necessary for his battle with acute myeloid leukemia. On May 1, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., Becker's Corner will match each $10 cover charge, with all proceeds going to Knoebel and his family. Each $10 per person charge includes a first glass of Chemosabe, a raffle basket ticket and a "surprise" item, according to Heather Rheaume of Prism Brewing. Two men allegedly found by police engaged in sexual activity in a car in the rear parking lot of Holiday Inn in Towamencin resulted in one of them being arrested and charged for carrying a concealed weapon without a license. Kevin Covaleski, 47, of the unit block of S. 11th Street, Quakertown, was taken into custody by Towamencin Police around 11:30 a.m. Jan. 24 and charged with firearms not to be carried without a license and disorderly conduct, police said. Covaleski was arraigned by District Judge Harold Borek and released on $5,000 unsecured bail, police said. Police investigated a suspicious occupied vehicle in the rear parking lot of the hotel at 1750 Sumneytown Pike, and found the occupants engaged in sexual activity, police said. …

A Quakertown man was sentenced to a maximum of 23 months in Montgomery County prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to forging a prescription at the Rite Aid in Hatfield Township in July. Issac Green, 34, of the 200 block of South Eleventh Street, pleaded guilty to a felony count of criminal attempt to commit forgery, according to Carl Hessler Jr. of North Penn Life. The plea agreement was accepted by Judge Steven T. O’Neill, who also ordered Green to complete three years’ probation after parole, according to the article. Green dropped off a prescription for Percocet on July 25 at the Rite Aid on North Broad Street, which was in the name of a Philadelphia woman, according to the report. James W. “Jim” Brant Sr., 68, of Quakertown, passed away Nov. 12, according to his tribute on The Intelligencer. Brant was a self-employed mechanic and ran Brant’s Auto Salvage for 30 years, according to his tribute. Brant grew up in the North Wales area and graduated in 1963 from Lansdale Catholic High School. UPDATE 10pm WFMZ is reporting that a SWAT team has arrived on the scene. The male suspect allegedly robbed the TD Bank in Quakertown around 8:30 this evening with a handgun. Early scanner reports said the suspect was a white male with a fake blond beard wearing a skullcap and a shirt with a Panthers logo. UPDATE: 9:30 p.m. Upper Saucon Patch readers report that police have surrounded the home at 4163 Farimount St. in Coopersburg. A heavyset white male, wearing a tank top and shorts, demanded money from a teller Wednesday morning at Citizen's Bank in Richland Crossings
The Citizen's Bank Richland Crossings Shopping Center in Richland Township, Bucks County, was robbed Wednesday morning. A white male with buzz-cut brown hair, wearing blue shorts and a gray tank top walked into the bank around 10:52 a.m. and told a teller he was armed, according to police frequency dialogue. His arms, legs, chest and face were exposed, according to Matt Coughlin of PhillyBurbs.com. The robber was given a red dye pack, which exploded. According to the article, the suspect is about 6 feet tall and weighs 200 pounds. Police said the suspect may be marked with red dye, according to the article.
