Students Get Sobering Reality of Safe Driving

North Penn High School juniors were educated Tuesday on the dangers of reckless, negligent and distracted driving, as part of a Montgomery County Health Department community traffic safety program

It was a day when physics and health came together — all to save lives. Isaac Newton's First Law, also known as the Law of Inertia, is known as such: A body in motion will remain in motion, unless acted on by an outside force. Like, for example, when a car collides with a tree or another vehicle. The driver and his or her passengers will continue to be projected forward, unless stopped by a seatbelt. Without a seatbelt, the bodies remain in motion — and through the windshield. today at 7:30 am i was on allentown road crossing valleyforge rd and this boy on a skate board ran through the red light. i just about hit him. i blew the horn and he never looked at me. so i chased after him and said, yo i could have killed you, you ran through the red light. his answer was SIR YOU HAVE BRAKES AND I DON`T AND I`M LATE FOR SCHOOL. my truck is 9006 lbs, at 35 mph he was dead!. …   more ›

North Penn School Safety Forum Reveals Changes, Shortcomings

Led by North Penn Safe Schools Coordinator Ray Wilson, a forum Monday night on school safety, in the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy, presented what's keeping students safe and what's going to make them safer

Some things were revealed Monday night at a school safety forum at North Penn High School that informed parents what's keeping their children safe and what's being scrutinized to make them safer. Namely, the possibility of an armed, trained and certified security guard at the high school. Parents also discovered that there is an absence of staffed security at the elementary schools, as North Penn High School and the middle schools are viewed as facilities with higher than average (and older) troublemakers. Specifics of security measures at the schools in the district were generalized, as not to jeopardize them, said Superintendent Curt Dietrich.
