Remembering North Penn's Five Casualties of the Iraq War

This week marks 10 years since the start of the Iraq war. Montgomeryville-Lansdale Patch recognizes fallen soldiers from our surrounding communities.

This week marks 10 years since the start of the Iraq war. Montgomeryville-Lansdale Patch here recognizes the fallen heroes from the surrounding North Penn community. By one count, the war is directly responsible for 189,000 deaths, not including those who died from hardship caused by the fighting. CNN has a stunning map of all casualties in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars here. In all, 4,802 Americans and allies have died in the war, according to the Iraq Coalition Casualty Count, including 197 Pennsylvanians. 83-Year-Old and 87-Year-Old Fight Off Alleged 23-Year-Old Robber

Joseph Patrick Walsh, of Blooming Glen, was apprehended by Telford Borough Police who said he allegedly attempted to rob an elderly couple in front of the police station. His girlfriend, Ashley Getz, of Harrisburg, is charged as a conspirator

An 87-year-old woman and an 83-year-old man from Franconia fought off alleged knifepoint robber Joseph Patrick Walsh, 23, after he allegedly conned them into believing his car broke down and forced them to an ATM when they offered him a ride home on June 19. His girlfriend, Ashley Getz, 26, of Harrisburg, also faces charges in the alleged robbery for allegedly conspiring with Walsh, police said. Walsh, of the 1300 block of N. Main Street in Blooming Glen, Bucks County, faces the following charges after a preliminary hearing at Souderton District Court Tuesday: Two counts of unlawful restraint and two counts of terroristic threats were withdrawn at his preliminary hearing. Alleged Pot Dealer Arrested in Lansdale

A Lansdale resident, who was initially under investigation by Souderton Police for alleged marijuana sales in Souderton, was arrested and charged Dec. 7 by Lansdale Police for allegedly dealing marijuana from her Penn Street residence. Jennifer Victoria Crawford, 22, of the 100 block of Penn Street, is charged with felony manufacture, delivery or possession of marijuana with intent to manufacture or deliver; misdemeanor posession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of marijuana, according to court records. Crawford was arraigned Dec. 7 before District Judge Harold Borek and remanded to Montgomery County prison in lieu of $10,000 cash bail, according to court records. Hearing Continued for Telford Woman Accused of Heroin Use

Dianna Laird, 33, of Reliance Place in Telford, allegedly admitted to using heroin in the bathroom at the Towamencin Wawa with a friend. Laird was formerly a fugitive for failing to appear at a preliminary hearing on separate Lower Salford drug charges

An alleged heroin user from Reliance Place in Telford had her preliminary hearing continued for felony drug charges Tuesday afternoon at District Judge Harold Borek's court. Dianna Laird, 33, allegedly admitted to Towamencin Police to using heroin in June in the bathroom of Towamencin Wawa, along with her friend, Stephanie Teufel, of Reliance Court in Telford. The continuance was granted without a public defender present for Laird. She appeared at district court Tuesday afternoon, claiming she spoke with her public defender, who told her to come into court herself and ask for the continuance. Illegal Immigrant Pleads Guilty to Telford Hit-and-Run

An illegal immigrant formerly from Hatfield admitted in Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas to a hit-and-run incident that happened in Telford on June 5. According to Peg Gibbons of PhillyBurbs.com, Walter Antonio Milla Quintero, 24, formerly of Roosevelt Avenue, received Sept. 7 a time-served to 12-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to the hit-and-run. Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency filed a detainer to take custody of Quintero, according to the article. He will be taken into custody following his prison sentence. Police said the hit-and-run occurred at 9 p.m. June 5 on the 400 block of West Broad Street, Telford. According to the article, Quintero attempted to pass a car on the left side that …

A Hispanic male robbed the Cumberland Farms convenience store on August 29 at 1 a.m.

Telford Borough Police need the public's help in identifying a Hispanic male who robbed the Cumberland Farms at 401 N. Main St. in Telford on August 29. Police said the armed robbery occurred at around 1:15 a.m. Aug. 29.  The suspect is described as a dark-haired, 5-foot 8-inch-tall Hispanic male, police said. Telford Teen Charged With Felony Robbery, Assault

Matthew Wiggins, 18, is charged in connection with the severe beating of a Telford man Monday night. He fled the scene and police from numerous districts conducted a perpetrator search early Tuesday morning

A Telford teenager remains incarcerated at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on felony robbery, assault and witness intimidation charges stemming from his alleged involvement in the severe beating of a Telford man late Monday night. Matthew Wiggins, 18, of the 300 block of Franconia Avenue, Telford, was arraigned July 18 on seven charges before District Judge James Gallagher. A preliminary hearing is set for July 26 at 3:45 p.m. before District Judge Kenneth Deatelhauser of Souderton. Wiggins faces the following charges: Telford Borough Police Detective Daniel Fox wrote in an affidavit that Wiggins, along with two other individuals, allegedly chased down and beat a Telford man about the head at 9:40 p.m. July 16.
