Update: Woman Who Died From Fall Was Mother of 11 and Grandmother of 25

Tuesday Update

North Wales Police have identified the woman who succumbed to injuries from a fall at North Wales Elementary Saturday morning as Carolyn M. Blum, 74, of Harleysville.

According to The Reporter, Blum was with her daughter Diane at the Mommy Market on Saturday, when she fell down a flight of stairs, hitting her head on the floor.

According to her tribute, Blum was a paint specialist at Ace Hardware in Harleysville and was leader of the Montgomery County 4-H Poultry Club "Birds of a Different Feather."

Blum was also the mother-in-law of Lansdale Borough Solicitor Mark Hosterman.

A funeral is set for Thursday at Salford Mennonite Church, 480 Groff's Mill Road, Lower Salford from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Interment is Friday morning at the chuch cemetery, according to her tribute.

Contributions should be made to the Montgomery County 4-H, payable to Farm, Home and Youth Foundation, 1015 Bridge Road, Suite H, Collegeville, PA, 19426.

North Penn School District confirmed that the elderly woman who suffered head trauma after falling down stairs Saturday afternoon at North Wales Elementary School during a Mommy Market died early Sunday morning.

According to The Reporter, an email was sent by a North Wales music teacher Saturday afternoon to parents who took part in the market.

The email states, and local unidentified sources confirmed, the elderly woman fell down gymnasium stairs at the North Penn elementary school around noon.

She was evacuated via JeffStat helicopter for treatment at Abington Memorial Hospital.

Parents helped to "handle the situation smoothly," according to the email.

The woman succumbed to her injuries around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, according to reports. 

The mother and grandmother was in her 70s and was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lansdale. She was a long-time employee at Ace Hardware in Lower Salford.

Her name has not been released by emergency personnel or the school district.
