Water Damage, Flooding Hits Lansdale Borough Hall Monday

The torrential rainstorms Sunday and Monday have caused severe water damage in the first floor offices and caucus room of Lansdale Borough Hall.

The torrential downpours Sunday and Monday morning added more weight to Lansdale Borough’s need for a new borough hall.

It also added more water damage to the caucus room, several offices and a restroom inside Lansdale Borough Hall.

Flooding and water damage was noticed on Monday morning, after a large amount of water that had accumulated on a portion of the roof broke through the ceiling, according to Borough Council President Matt West. Code enforcement and public works are evaluating the sources of leaks and needs for repairs, but West added that the leaky roof is an on-going issue.

"This occurrence is certainly the worst I've seen," said West. "It appears as though [the leaks] are getting worse. It is certainly a quality of life issue for employees, as well as those conducting business with the borough."

Items including a conference table, chairs and televisions were being aired out, and damp ceiling tiles and carpet were being removed Monday.
