North Penn Marching Knights awarded First Place, Earn Highest Overall Score

On Saturday November 2, the North Penn Marching Knights took the field at Hatboro-Horsham's 39th annual "Tip of the Hat" band competition.

With 106 members, the Marching Knights were one of five marching units to compete in the Yankee Division.  The musicianship, discipline and teamwork displayed by all of the bands was impressive.

The Marching Knights show is entitled “Unity”, and the music and movement have an Asian feel. The inclusion of Taiko drums and the guard uniforms inspired by Tibetan monk’s robes carry this theme throughout the show. North Penn’s iconic blue and white uniforms once again contribute to the dramatic visual impact, creating colorful ripple effects on the field.

North Penn's performance was received  with an enthusiastic standing ovation, and earned  the marching unit the First Place award with a score of 94.950.  They received the award for High Auxilliary in their division;  and across all marching units they were awarded Highest Overall Score US Marine Corps award and the Linwood Matthews Memorial Highest Overall Score award.
