Community Update

Halloween has come and gone! Over the last few weeks I have heard just about every point of view about Halloween, the wearing of costumes, parades, and the value people have put on the day, along with the belief that these types of things can bring negative effects on those individuals who cannot afford costumes and how their child will feel bad about themselves, their family situation and that's not why they send their kids to school. As one of the people charged with making public policy I find both arguments equally persuausive. When we gave the power to principals to decide the issue for their own schools we never imagined the uproar that would occur when the decision would be made without input from the school community. Please attend our November 11th committee meeting if you wish to add to the debate.
