Contentment

Today I am grateful for contentment.  Getting a little esoteric here, but it’s my mood.  Of course, I want a lot. . .fame, fortune, health, success; boobs that don’t drag on the ground; fingernails that don’t split like two-ply tissues; a stomach that doesn’t’ rumble like a pothole in Pennsylvania; a butt that fits in an arm chair without trapping me, so I can get up without bringing the chair with me, hanging on my ass like a dangling participle.

I want it all.  Why not?  There is a line in the play, “Chapter Two”, by Neil Simon, that goes something like, “It’s okay to want it all because there’s not a chance in hell you’re going to get it anyway.”  That’s how I feel.  That’s why I’m content.  So what if I’m not famous or rich.  Yet.  It’ll come.  Besides, just look at how wealthy I am in other areas!  You are, too.  You might have to try a different angle, a different perspective, a different keyhole to see it, but it’s true.  Wealth is everywhere, even if you don’t have cash!  I find that exciting.  Encouraging.  Invigorating.

Each and everything that is really important will come my way. . .and yours in due time. And when it does, we won’t blow it like so many do, by getting involved with drugs or by making horrible financial choices.  We will be good.  We will DO good.  I promise.

Even though sometimes circumstances or situations try to force me in other directions, I’m grateful for this feeling of contentment. . . for both of us. . .for all of us.
