Laughter
Today I am grateful for laughter. Is there anything in the world better than laughter? Maybe love, but not always, even though both can hurt a little if done correctly.
I love to laugh. Not just titter like a proper lady, but good old belly laugh, until tears run down my face. . .and elsewhere! Laughter heals me. Laughter makes me so very glad to be alive. Laughter is easy. Laughter is contagious.

When I hear my husband laugh with his sister it sounds like the most beautiful music ever. We laugh differently with different people and in different situations. There is no laughter in the world like the laughter of siblings as they share stories from long ago. . .or yesterday. Laughter can release a lot of tension and heal a lot of pains.

It’s not always appropriate. . .ask my kids who used to get church giggles for no apparent reason. . .yes, in church! Once they were so out of control that all of us were howling until our entire section was vibrating, even the strangers. The pastor took one look at us all and joined right in, incorporating the joyous healing power of laughter into his sermon. “God doesn’t always want us to be so serious!” It was one of my best times in church ever.
Reader’s Digest has it right. Laughter is the best medicine!
