Don Hill, 82, Long-Time Member of North Penn School Board

Don Hill dedicated more than 25 years as a member of North Penn Board of School Directors.

Donald "Don" E. Hill, long-time member of the North Penn Board of School Directors, passed away on Tuesday, May 20. Don, a 53-year resident of Lansdale, was born on March 3, 1932 in Decatur, IL to the late Herman Hill and Lillian (Hood) Hill.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret "Peg" Hill and his brother, Harold W. Hill. Don was the loving father of Robert B. Hill (Bobbi Nolan-Hill) and Donna M. Hill (John R. Wilson, Jr.) and cherished grandfather of Andrew, Matthew, Stephen, Collin, Rachel, and Abigail. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces and by his dear friend Carol D. Baker. Don graduated from high school in Seward, Nebraska.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, after which he attended Drexel University. Upon graduation from Drexel, Don joined Leeds & Northrup as an electrical engineer, where he worked until his retirement. Don enjoyed a career that afforded him the opportunity to lead projects in numerous countries throughout the world.

Don likely will be most remembered for his tireless commitment to community service. He dedicated over 25 years as a member of North Penn Board of School Directors, demonstrating his profound conviction for public school education and its importance to the community, and the development of its youth. He chaired many committees and served as both President and Vice President during his tenure on the Board. Don's leadership was seen in many aspects of the community.

Don served on the boards of the North Penn Educational Foundation and the Southeastern Pennsylvania Symphony Orchestra. Don was an active member of the Lansdale Lions Club and former member of the Rotary Club of North Penn. He also announced for and sang with the Montco Senior Concert Choir. He was active in the Montgomery County Republican Committee, serving first as a Judge of Elections and then as an Area 9 Republican Committeeman. He shared his passion for service by encouraging and mentoring others committed to community service.
