Big 12: Report from Fall Camp (8/18 - 8/25)

Texas Longhorns

Texas Junior WR Bryant Jackson suffered a foot fracture in a team scrimmage on August 19th. The WR corps finally was all healthy after two other injuries had plagued the team but then Bryant's injury was announced. Jackson was expected to compete for a starting job this season after reeling in 8 catches for 140yards last season. The wide-out was originally recruited as a defensive back, but he moved over to offense after his Freshman year and impressed the coaches. Jackson's injury should not force him to miss the season; however, it is another pinch at the Longhorns as they try to prove the Big 12 media wrong and compete for a Big 12 title.

And here it is the announcement we've all been waiting for: the starting QB for Oklahoma is……Trevor Knight??…not Blake Bell?

Well, despite all of the media's high on Blake Bell and self-assurance that he would be the starter, Head Coach Bob Stoops chose redshirt Freshman Trevor Knight as the starter, and if people would have listened to some of Stoops' comments, they could of seen that he really loved something about Knight. The new Sooner starting QB looks like a great passer, and Stoops may want to build a four-year starter like he did with Sam Bradford and Landry Jones. No offense to Blake Bell, the "Bell-dozer" package has worked wonders for this Oklahoma team and their red zone efficiency, but I am very excited to see Trevor Knight on the field this fall. There's something special about him that is going unnoticed that may propel the Sooners back into the nation title hunt after a few disappointing seasons.
