Homemade Explosive Device Detonated on Lawn of Towamencin Residence

No damage or injuries were reported in the July 8 incident, but Towamencin Police believe this was not a a random act.

The Towamencin Township Police Department is investigating a recent incident where an explosive device was thrown from a vehicle onto the front lawn of a home on the 300 block of Erie Drive.

Police responded to the area at 10:22 p.m. on July 8 for a report of a detonation of an explosive device. The residents told police that they heard what sounded like a gunshot, at which point they ran outside and observed a Honda Civic leaving the area, according to the report. A damaged 1.5 liter bottle and pieces of tin foil were also located in the front yard, police said.

No injuries or property damage were reported, police said.

Police consulted with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department Bomb Squad, who said the device was consistent with a bottle-bomb type of explosive device, the repost states. Additionally, the report states that police do not believe the act was random, and that it may stem from a dispute between the resident and several other people.
