A North Penn High School student was taken to Lansdale Hospital on Monday afternoon after the school bus in which she was a passenger was rear-ended at one of the exits from the high school's campus.
The bus, number 63, suffered minor cosmetic damage to its back end when it was struck by a black Ford Taurus, which had to be towed from the scene.
Sergeant Paul Wiechec of the Towamencin Police Department said the Taurus had been struck by a red Pontiac Firebird whose operator had admitted mistakenly stepping on the accelerator and brake pedal at the same time. The impact of the Firebird then propelled the Taurus into the back of the bus.
The drivers of the Firebird and the Taurus were said to be unhurt. No other injuries were reported.
