UPDATE: BB Gun Caused PSU Lockdown Scare

Authorities confirmed the situation was under control around 4:45 p.m., CBS Philly reported.

It was a BB gun that caused the lockdown at Penn State’s Abington campus on Thursday afternoon, CBS Philly reported. 

"Person with weapon has been found and is in police custody. Not a real gun; no one ever in danger. Lock down ended. Normal operations resume," Penn State announced on Twitter around 4:50 p.m.

Authorities confirmed the situation was under control around 4:45 p.m., CBS Philly reported.

A gunman was reported on the Penn State Abington campus around 3 p.m. Initial reports suggested it may have been a shotgun. The campus was put on lockdown, and students were asked to "shelter in place."
