As he sits there waiting for their lawyer to arrive, he has fears of losing everything. His belly is turning while his mind wonders and he is scared what is happening to four girls in his life. His two baby girls were taken from him and returned to a home of terror, his little princess was taken and placed in another home because he fought for the rights and safety of his twin babies and the love of his life was in the hospital for the second time because her health has crashed due to the loss of their children.
He knows the walls well, the smell of old paint and the sounds of children crying and running up and down the halls. He looks around and sees faces just a month ago laughed with him and shared their thoughts of other cases with him. He looks for a friendly face, a smile, anyone that could tell him everything will be OK and that if he needs anything for him just to give them a call.
However; this never happens. No one comes up to him, they all walk right by just as if he is a criminal and not a fellow caseworker. He thinks about how he gave his heart and soul to these people. How everyone is always saying that they wish they could do what he does. How he is a worker and a foster parent. How he gives everything to any child entering his home. His mind wanders in many different ways and what has become when the courts are protecting a child abuser and make the protector a villain.
He talks to the lawyer and fear enters his heart. He calls his wife and says that they want to put her in jail; they want to drag her through the mud. He tells her it is not worth losing her. He can’t handle this. He leans forward and places his hand on his head and tells her "hun you tried your hardest, you fought for the girls but they are threatening to put you in jail because you emailed people the abusers information. She tells him keep fighting she can handle jail, she tells him that the girls safety is more important than hers. Then they threaten to put their daughter their own child in jail and anyone that gave his wife information.
So this couple that gave the last 12 years of their life to the county, stop fighting and walked away knowing that these three girls that have been with them for over 2 years are going back to a home that everyone knows children have been abused. However; since the supervisors of CYS ego’s where hurt from the defiance of these foster parents in placing children first, and agency second, this is how they show they are in control. They rip families apart and place children in danger.
