Changes Allow More Outside Signage at Mall

Montgomery Township Supervisors this month amended the sign ordinance for the regional shopping center district — aka Montgomery Mall. Now, retailers inside the mall can install exterior signage

Montgomery Mall retailers will now be able to put signage on the exterior of the mall.

In a The Reporter Online story by Dan Sokil, Montgomery Township supervisors this month updated its sign ordinance as it relates to the regional shopping district, by editing discrepancies and inconsistencies in various provisions.

Under the new changes, according to the article, businesses inside the mall with a maximum of 5,000 square feet of floor area can have a 125-square-foot outside sign, even on an awning. Businesses between 5,000 and 10,000 square feet can have a 125-square-foot sign, plus extra area for the amount of floor space over 5,000, according to the article. Businesses between 50,000 and 100,000 square feet can have up to 1,200 square feet in outside signage, and those over 100,000 square feet of floor space can have a 2,000-square-foot sign, according to the article.
