Two-Day Lansdale Music Fest Showcases Local Bands

The first annual event features 15 bands over two days at Lansdale Music Factory, a music venue and record store on West Main Street in Lansdale.

Music makes the people come together.

That should hold true over the next two days, as the Lansdale Music Fest rocks Lansdale Music Factory.

From 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, and 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, a total of 15 bands will showcase their talents to new and established fans.

Lansdale Music Factory owner Dean Griffo is doing it all to get people in the door and attract people to his venue and his record store.

"I think it's great. It's a solid idea," said promoter Derek Calhoun, of West Point, who is also a musician in local rock acts Rough Justice and Wives.

"There are a lot of bands in the area, and when people see or hear about a festival like this, they want to be a part of it," Calhoun said. "It is the catalyst to bring a lot of different bands together and cross-promote to different audiences."

The festival is an amalgam of distinct genres of music: punk rock, hardcore, metal, indie rock.

"There are bands that never played this town before; others have played here before," Calhoun said. "It's a good deal for local musicians."

Tickets are $10 for Friday's show, $12 for Saturday's show, or $20 for two days.

The show is all ages. There is no alcohol at Lansdale Music Factory. The venue is located near Lansdale train station and accessible via the R5 line.
