Commercial Filmed in Lansdale on Thursday

Shadowbox Pictures produced a commercial for NetSpend, with filming over two days in Lansdale, Lafayette Hill and Conshohocken

Commuters and pedestrians were in awe Thursday morning at the film production going on on West Main Street in front of the vacant location of the former Lansdale News Agency and One Snip At a Time salon.

It was all part of a production for a 60-second commercial for NetSpend by ShadowBox Pictures, according to producer and Montgomery Township resident Larry Buckley.

ShadowBox Pictures is based in Yardley.

"I get my haircut next door," said Buckley. "I saw the space next door and said it could work with what I wanted."

The former Lansdale News Agency and Ah's Garage location was transformed overnight into "M-Star Check Cashing," to go along with client NetSpend's commercial.

NetSpend offers prepaid debit cards and financial services.

Buckley said filming occurred Wednesday in Conshohocken. Film crews were breaking down the set around 12:45 p.m. Thursday and were headed to continue filming in Lafayette Hill in Whitemarsh Township.

"The cooperation of Lansdale Police Department was very helpful, in accordance to what we needed to do," Buckley said. "Sgt. Alex Kromdyk was especially great to work with."

Buckley said he was uncertain as to any local talent taking part in the production.

"We hire actors from all over," he said.

ShadowBox has produced films and commercials for AAA, A.C. Moore, Bucks County tourism, OxyClean, QVC, Geico and more.
