Yocum Ford Honored as Lansdale Business Of the Month

The spotlight is on a popular Lansdale car dealership honored Monday night as this month's Economic Development Committee Business of the Month.
Yocum Ford, at 301 E. Main St., was founded by brothers George and Robert Yocum in 1921, according to EDC member and Mayor Andy Szekely.
Yocum was once the spot for tractor and farm implement sales, until they were phased out in 1967.
George Yocum Jr. took the helm in 1969, followed by George "Mac" Yocum III in 1991.
"Yocum Ford is one of the oldest Ford dealerships under continuous family ownership in the state of Pennsylvania," Szekely said at Monday's EDC meeting.
Yocum Ford employs about 50 people, making it one of the larger employers in the borough, he said.
"They certainly embody their motto of turning customers into friends since 1921, and needless to say, their business success has in turn made Yocum Ford a pillar of the community," Szekely said.
He said Yocum has a history of giving back to the community. The dealership provides cars for various parades and recently donated 60 coats to the North Penn Boys and Girls Club.
Yocum also donated a 2014 Ford Fusion for use in the Lansdale Business Association Mural Arts Program on a two-year lease equating to $10,000.
