Update: Lansdale Pawn Shop Robbed Tuesday

Lansdale Police said a male gave a note to shopkeepers demanding cash and gold Tuesday morning. The investigation is ongoing, police said.

Lansdale Pawn Shop on North Broad Street was robbed Tuesday morning, Lansdale Police said, and investigators will be using surveillance footage from the area to help identify the robber.

Det. Sgt. Mike Trail of Lansdale Police declined comment that cash and gold was taken in the robbery. While readers reported on Lansdale Patch Facebook that police made an arrest in the robbery, Trail declined comment that an individual was apprehended after the robbery, stating the investigation is ongoing.

Trail said Lansdale officers responded at 11:15 a.m. to the pawn shop for an armed robbery.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a black male entered the store, police said. The man was carrying a blue "Nike" tennis racket bag with "Nike" written in white, police said. He was also carrying a tan two-strap bag, which appeared to be made of some sort of fabric.  The bag has some logo imprinted on it in brown.

Trail said the robber is described as 6 feet tall, dressed in blue jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt with a hood pulled over his face, and gray sneakers with white laces.

The robber indicated he had a weapon in the backpack, Trail said. He demanded cash and gold via a note, he said. The man then fled northbound on Broad Street on foot, police said.

"We have information collected and video footage around town to work on the investigation," Trail said.
