Driver Resuscitated at Scene, Extricated from Vehicle After Major Accident

The driver of a pickup truck crashed along Troxel Road Tuesday night. He was found unconscious and without a pulse.

A man who crashed his pickup truck on Troxel Road was found unconscious and without a pulse, and was resuscitated on scene, extricated from the vehicle, and transported to Abington Health Lansdale Hospital Tuesday night.

Fire crews searched in the brush and around the creek that runs between the church and Carriage Way on both sides of Troxel Road for a possible ejected passenger -- as the driver did not wear a seatbelt -- but a search did not turn up an individual.

Towamencin Township Police Officer Ken Meyer said it was a one-vehicle accident and the driver was extricated from the vehicle, which came to a rest on the bridge over the creek between Seventh Day Adventist Church and Carriage Way.

The accident was reported at around 9:35 p.m.

According to initial reports, a resident heard a crash on Troxel Road, but did not know what the vehicle struck. They saw the vehicle sitting on the side of the road.

A resident of 865 Troxel Road called police and reported that a male subject was unconscious in a vehicle near Carriage Way and Troxel Road.

Meyer would not release the race or speculate on the age of the driver until next of kin were notified.

Two of Towamencin Police's accident reconstruction crew were reconstructing the scene Tuesday night, Meyer said, to determine  "how something that happened up the road" left debris near the final resting place of the pickup truck.

A guardrail was warped and bent back across from the driveway to the church, nearest to the creek.

A metal mailbox from 868 Troxel Road was opened apart like the top of a soup can and came to rest on the side of Troxel Road.

In the roadway in front of the church were scattered various car parts -- a headlight, a Faulkner Toyota vanity plate, a bumper -- as well as the door to the mailbox.

The smell of gasoline permeated the air. Meyer said the scene was cordoned off as a safety precaution due to the possible volatile nature of the fuel leak.

Towamencin Vol. Fire Co., Towamencin Police and Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale responded to the scene.

Police closed Troxel Road between Pickwick Lane and Carriage Way.
