POLICE: North Penn Teacher Assaulted by Student

A North Wales boy allegedly assaulted a teacher after being reprimanded for having food in the classroom

A 16-year-old North Wales boy was charged June 1 with aggravated assault of a teacher, simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief following an alleged dispute with a teacher over food in the classroom.

Charges were filed in Montgomery County Juvenile Court and the boy was released to a parent, police said.

Police said at 8:30 a.m. June 1, they responded to North Penn High School for a report of an assault on a teacher.

The boy got into a dispute with a teacher when he failed to put away food in class, police said. The boy turned over the item and his bookbag to the teacher, police said.

A fight began and the teacher was shoved and assaulted, police said.

The student then intentionally knocked a computer to the floor, police said.

The boy was detained by school security until police arrived.
