Hopwood's Facebook page was full of tributes from friends and family on how he touched their lives.
"My heartfelt prayers go out to the Hopwood family and all of Donnie's friends. I will never forget his smile and realistic outlook on life when i taught him at Indian Valley Middle School. No one can take away those memories. Eternal rest grant unto him and may a special ray of light shine upon him. Heaven has welcomed another Souderton angel ...we cannot spare any more of our precious children to your care though ...please God, listen to my plea," wrote Karen Fiorillo.

Some friends shared an update Hopwood recently posted to his Facebook page:
"Ill never understand those type of people that are constantly pissed off and their excuse is "I have a hard life" or "nothing ever goes right for me." Please, everyone has a hard life, it's not supposed to be easy, but YOU have the choice to be happy and YOU have the power to make your life better. There are much more positives in life than negatives and once you can focus on that then you will be a genuinely happy person."
Most eerie was an update Hopwood posted Aug. 28 on his Facebook page:
"You're already dead. You're dead from the moment you're born. If you can accept that, you can accept anything."
