Tip Cup Stolen from Rita's Water Ice in Lansdale

Police said $15 in cash and coins was in the cup, stolen May 7.

A man conned an employee of Rita's Water Ice and stole a tip cup on May 7, Lansdale Police said.

The tip cup contained about $15 in cash and coins, police said.

The employee told police that at 8:50 p.m. May 7, a black male in his 30s approached the window service counter at the Rita's on North Broad Street, police said.

The man, who was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and had a few days' growth of facial hair, asked the teenager for a free sample of water ice, police said.

After tasting the sample, the man then asked for a full serving, police said. The employee completed the order, and upon returning to the counter, the man and the tip cup were gone, police said.

Surveillance footage was obtained and the police are asking anyone with information regarding the identification of the suspect to contact the Lansdale Police Department at (215) 368-1801.
