Police immediately summoned an ambulance to respond, and both parties were taken to Grand View Hospital in West Rockhill Township, police said.

Grand View Hospital identified two subdural hematomas indicative of a significant and serious head injury, police said.

The child was transferred to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Towamencin Police and Montgomery County Children and Youth Services were notified. These and other findings indicated injuries consistent with “shaken baby syndrome," police said.

Subsequent to the police investigation, Towamencin Detectives found that the father had sole care, custody, and control over the child since 5:50 a.m. Sept. 26 at his home on the 1900 block of Nashmont Court.

On Sept. 29, 2011 the father was arrested by Towamencin Detectives and charges were filed.
