Upper Gwynedd Police Enforce 'Community First' Motto

Upper Gwynedd Township Police Department was founded in 1951, and has never strayed from its mission of serve and protect.

Upper Gwynedd Township Police has strived since 1951 to put the community first—and its officers are putting that ethos right where citizens can see it.

"Community First" now graces all Upper Gwynedd Township police vehicles and police department correspondence.

"It is a role we take very seriously," states Sgt. Stephen Gillen of Upper Gwynedd Police in a press release.

The new motto clearly and concisely shows residents that they are put first in whatever the police do in Upper Gwynedd.

"It also serves as a reminder to our officers that our underlying goal is to work with our community to make Upper Gwynedd an even better place to work and call home," Gillen said.

"Community First" doesn't stop at residents, however. The motto also means helping those who work in the towship.

And the motto doesn't stop at serving and protecting the citizens. To the police force, "Community First" is about keeping residents and workers informed of information and updates via its Twitter account @UGPD and its Facebook page.
